Dante's Divine Trilogy
Alasdair GrayExcellent translation. I’d describe it as a fun romp. Quite reminiscent of reading Faust, for me, though obviously more Catholic and less devilish in [perhaps] intent. Oddly enough, I enjoyed The Paradise Cantos the most (which I wrongly presumed would bore me). Only critique is that if half of the Purgatory section, which would be 1/6th of the book, didn’t seemed a bit repetitive in plot structure, this would’ve been a 9 or 10 for me…. and we can blame Dante for that rather than Gray, something Gray instructs a reader not to do.
